My last visit to Portugal was during the winter – not exactly a time you think about heading to the beach. Which is why, since then, I’ve always wanted to return to this beautiful country and explore the Algarve. The bright white buildings and blue sea and sky make it an ideal escape! And if I had to pick where to stay? My top choice would be Casa Mãe.
Blocks from the beach, the hotel welcomes visitors with terracotta floors, a palette of blue and white, and a mix of historic and modern. The main house – renovated from the ground up – hosts larger suites, while a newly-constructed building offers more minimal rooms. Three cabana rooms offer larger patios.
Casa Mae comes from an environmental and sustainable mentality. The hotel cooks with locally sourced items from its own gardens and surrounding farms, feeds scraps from the kitchen to their chickens, and even offers its own organic skincare line guests.
I’m obsessed with the blue and white palm prints located throughout the different rooms, but this is my favorite!
Sunshine seems to filter through every square inch of this property, and the images alone have me craving a summer getaway!
With Portugal being known for its tiled facades, it’s no surprise that the tile in the bathrooms plays a huge design role – so stunning!!
The modern building houses rooms like this one: a little smaller but just as luxurious in their own way. Can we please note that each room comes with a balcony and a hammock!!?
The main lounge spaces are just a lovely, with fantastic attention to detail (hello perforated ceiling!)…
And finally, the cabana rooms (of which there are only three!) have a serious beach vibe to them with their own large ground-level patios that open up to the gardens.
Who wants to throw on a bikini and join me here!??
